Dubai e-COMMERCE Strategy

Dubai e-Commerce Strategy

Ever-evolving consumer behavior and the growth of e-Commerce are some of the factors that have altered the course of global retail.

Purchasing goods electronically has become the new norm, forcing retailers to remodel their businesses to maintain competitiveness and efficiency. Also, the growth of national e-Commerce is evident due to the government initiatives and the drive towards the digitalisation of trade. Dubai’s pivotal position on the global trade map and its extensive logistics networks, coupled with government support has contributed to the growth of the sector. Aligning with this , the emirates’ e-Commerce strategy was launched in 2019 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The strategy aims to strengthen Dubai’s status as a global logistics hub and accelerate its online commerce growth, with EZDubai as the frontrunner to enable the shift.

The strategic initiative was chalked out to:

...

Increase the regional and global share of e-Commerce companies in Dubai.

...

Increase the contribution of e-Commerce to the local economy.

...

Reduce the total operating cost of e-Commerce by 20%.

...

Empower and encourage companies to establish a presence in Dubai.

...

Create a dynamic digital ecosystem for companies.

...

Encourage cloud-computing service providers to set up data centres in Dubai.
